Marriage Agreement 1606
Articles of agreement intended and agreed upon by & between Richard Calcote of ye Nunnerie in ye Isle of Man, gentleman on 1 pte and Edward Moore of ye Bankhall in Kirkdale in the county & Jane Esquire as ye other pte, ye six and twenty day of February in ye third year of ye rayne of our most dear sovereign King James I.
Important it is completed, concluded & constituted & mutually agreed by & between ye parties to these presents, & ye sd. Richard Calcote shall & will at on or before ye fIrst Penticost next, incurring ye date hereof, expouse, marry & take to wyfe Elizabeth Moore ne ice of ye sd Edw. Moore & dau. of John Moore late & deceased, ye sd Eliz. will there unto consent & agree as ye lawes states of his realm will that pennit suffer.
ITEM It is agreed in like manner ye sd. Eliz. shall expouse, marry and have to husband ye sd. Rich.
ITEM Sd. Edward Moore his heirs doth covenant & he will consent to ye whole & entire sum of 100 pounds, on ye feast day ofNativity of John the Baptist 1606 £50 & on ye feast day ofJ. ye B. 1607 a like sum of£50, payment to be hand & made in ye new dwellinge of sd. Edw. Moore in Liverpoole.
It is agreed on & in consideration of marriage & payment of ye sd. £loo, ye sd. Rich. Calcote shall at all & every time hereafter at & upon his owne cost & charge & at & upon ye reasonable Ed. Moore by goods & sufficient conveyance & assurance in ye leave best by fyne with or without promises record with single or double lawfullie convey to all & singular his messuages houses & buildings lands tenantds rents incomes services & herediments with all and singular or everie of them appertaining setout standing & being in Bridge Street within ye citye of Chester .

Individual Note: Robert was proprietor of Scarlett. He married and had issue Robert and Ferdinand. Ferdinand in 16781 sold Scarlett to Henry Corrin and in 1677, he sold 'Ory Chee'(?) in Malew to Arthur Calcott, probably another member of this family. He was Steward of Lord Derby's household, one of those who presided at William Chriatian's trial, and one of the trustees appointed under Bishop Barrow's will. It is not known whether he or his brother Robert left issue.
